For Business Owners
Arispring Financial · For Business Owners
You've spent years building your business.
Have you planned what happens next?
Most business owners have 80–90% of their net worth locked inside their company. Without a strategic plan, that wealth is at risk — from the unexpected, from a poor exit, and from taxes that could have been avoided.
80–90%

Yet most have no formal exit or succession plan in place.

The Questions Every Business Owner Should Be Asking
Are any of these keeping you up at night?
These are the questions we hear most often from business owners. If even one resonates, it's time to have a conversation.
Continuity
"If something happened to me tomorrow, would my business survive?"
Without a funded buy-sell agreement and key person coverage, the answer is often no. We help you put the structures in place that protect your business — and your family — from the unexpected.
Exit Strategy
"I want to exit in the next 3–5 years. How do I maximize what I get?"
Buyers pay a premium for businesses that don't depend on their owner. We help you identify and close the value gaps — years before you go to market — so you negotiate from a position of strength.
Succession
"How do I transfer my business to the next generation without destroying it?"
Family succession is one of the most complex financial events a business owner can face. We design transition plans that are fair, tax-efficient, and built to preserve both the business and family relationships.
Personal Wealth
"My business is doing well, but am I actually building personal wealth?"
Reinvesting everything back into the business is common — but it leaves you personally exposed. We help you build a parallel personal wealth strategy that doesn't depend entirely on a future business sale.
Tax Exposure
"When I sell, how much of the proceeds will I actually keep?"
The tax impact of a business sale can be significant. We work alongside your CPA to structure the transaction — and your personal finances — in a way that minimizes that exposure well in advance.
Retirement
"What does my retirement actually look like without the business income?"
Many business owners have no retirement plan outside their business. We design tax-advantaged retirement strategies that build real, independent wealth — whether or not the business sale goes as planned.
Business Valuation Strategy
Understanding — and growing — what your business is truly worth.
Most business owners have a number in their head for what their business is worth. Most of the time, that number is wrong. Knowing the real value — and the specific drivers that influence it — is the foundation of every smart business planning decision.
1. Establish a Baseline
We start by helping you understand where your business stands today — its approximate value, the key drivers, and the factors that a buyer or successor would scrutinize.
2. Identify the Value Gaps
Owner dependency, customer concentration, undocumented processes, key person risk — we identify the specific factors quietly eroding your business's transferable value.
3. Build a Strategic Action Plan
With a clear picture of where you are and where the gaps are, we work with you to develop a prioritized roadmap for closing those gaps and growing sustainable value over time.
4. Align Personal & Business Goals
The right exit value isn't the highest possible number — it's the number that funds the rest of your life. We ensure your business strategy and personal financial plan are aligned toward the same outcome.
5. Coordinate Your Advisory Team
A successful business transition requires more than a financial advisor. We coordinate with your attorney, CPA, and M&A professionals to ensure every element of your plan works together.
Value Drivers We Analyze
Financial performance trends · Owner dependency · Customer / revenue concentration · Management team depth · Documented systems & processes · Intellectual property · Recurring revenue mix · Brand and market position
Exit Path Options
Third-party sale (strategic or financial buyer) · Management buyout (MBO) · Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) · Family succession · Partner buyout · Recapitalization
Post-Exit Wealth Considerations
Deal structure optimization (asset vs. stock sale) · Installment sale strategies · Qualified Opportunity Zone investments · Charitable Remainder Trusts · Estate planning integration · Investment of proceeds

Services for Business Owners
Every service, built for the complexity of ownership.
Business owners face a unique set of financial challenges that general advisors aren't equipped to handle. Every service we offer is designed with the business owner's dual role in mind — as the owner of a company and the steward of a family's financial future.
Exit & Succession Planning
A successful exit doesn't happen by accident. We help you build a plan — years in advance — that maximizes value, minimizes taxes, and transitions your business on your timeline and your terms.
- Business value building strategy

- Successor identification & development
- Tax-efficient transaction structuring

Buy-Sell Agreements
A buy-sell agreement is the operating agreement for what happens when a partner dies, becomes disabled, divorces, or wants to leave. Without one — or with one that isn't properly funded — the consequences can be devastating.
- Agreement design & structure review
- Insurance funding strategies
- Valuation method selection
- Trigger event planning
- Regular review & update coordination
Key Person Insurance
Every business has individuals whose loss would cause serious financial harm. We help you identify those people, quantify the risk, and put protection in place that gives the business time to recover and adapt.
- Key person identification & risk quantification
- Life and disability coverage design
- Business loan protection
- Talent retention structures
Business Owner Retirement Plans
Business owners often neglect personal retirement planning while reinvesting everything into the company. We design tax-advantaged retirement structures that build real, independent wealth alongside your business.
- SEP-IRA, SIMPLE IRA, Solo 401(k)
- Defined benefit / cash balance plans
- Deferred compensation strategies
- Business-funded retirement funding
Executive Benefits & Compensation
Attracting and retaining top leadership requires more than a competitive salary. We design benefit structures that reward performance, create loyalty, and align executive interests with long-term business outcomes.
- Non-qualified deferred compensation (NQDC)
- Executive life insurance (COLI / BOLI)
- Supplemental Executive
- Retirement Plans (SERP)
- Equity-based compensation planning
Business & Personal Risk Management
Business ownership concentrates financial risk. We conduct a comprehensive review of both your business and personal exposure — identifying gaps in coverage that could threaten everything you've built.
- Business overhead expense coverage
- Disability income protection
- Life insurance needs analysis
- Personal liability & umbrella coverage
- Long-term care planning

Your business, your life, and the market all change. We meet regularly to review your plan, adjust to new circumstances, and ensure you're always moving toward your goals — not away from them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Questions we hear from business owners.
When is the right time to start exit planning?
The best time is 5–10 years before you intend to exit. This gives you the runway to meaningfully improve your business's value, structure your personal finances, and choose your exit path deliberately rather than reactively. That said, it's never too late to start — even two years of focused preparation can make a significant difference in your outcome.
What's the difference between a financial advisor and a CEPA®?
A general financial advisor is trained primarily in investments and insurance. A Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®) has completed specialized training in business value building, exit strategy, and ownership transition — skills that require a completely different knowledge base. For business owners with the majority of their wealth inside their company, this distinction matters enormously.
Do you provide formal business valuations?
Arispring Financial provides strategic business valuation planning — helping you understand the key value drivers in your business and build a plan to improve them. Formal certified business appraisals (required for legal, tax, or transaction purposes) are conducted in partnership with qualified, credentialed business appraisers whom we can coordinate for you.
I already have a CPA and an attorney. Why do I need you?
Your CPA focuses on tax compliance. Your attorney focuses on legal documentation. Very few advisors look at the full financial picture — connecting your business strategy, personal wealth, risk coverage, and long-term plan into one coherent strategy. We fill that gap and serve as the coordinator between your entire advisory team, ensuring everyone is working toward the same outcome.
What size businesses do you work with?
We work with business owners across a wide range of company sizes, typically from $500K to $50M+ in annual revenue. What matters more than revenue size is whether the owner is serious about building, protecting, and eventually transitioning the value they've created.
How do we get started?
The first step is a complimentary Business Owner Discovery Session — a 60 to 90 minute conversation with Annie. There's no obligation, no pitch, and no products to sell. It's simply a conversation to understand your situation and determine whether we're the right fit for each other. You can schedule directly through Calendly or by calling our office.
